Haven Place along with it's volunteers and donors have impacted approximately 4,000 lives in 2018! We would love for you to join us!
Haven Place has been up and running for over 3 and a half years now. Haven Place is a non-profit 501c3 Charitable organization located on Main street in the historic area of New Haven. We operate from the generosity of all who donate and volunteer at Haven Place. We could do none of this if it weren’t for our prayer partners and supporters. Haven Place has served over 4,000 people this year. We ran 8 different classes which included a Women’s Bible study, Financial Class, Marriage Class, Parenting and children’s classes, Anxiety and Depression, Health and Nutrition. We provide free after school tutoring, homework help and youth hang time on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s, (We are in dire need of tutors, we are getting more and more children every year and you do not need a degree, just a listening ear to help them read, but if you are a wiz in math we definitely will use that! ) free piano and sewing lessons. 12 different groups have used Haven Place such as CSDD Life Enrichment, Green’s Karate, a men’s group from Kensington Church, The Sharing Organization, Homeschool Groups, Youth For Christ, Thrivent Financial, Anchor Bay Chamber Of Commerce, MISD Parent Collaborative, CARE of Southeast Michigan. Girl Scouts, Brownies and Daisy’s. Our fun Ladies Pamper Me Day took place in February where we invited ladies to come in, for $20 they were able to get their hair styled, a facial, makeup, nails done and a massage. We held Euchre tournaments, Karaoke nights, Youth nights, Outdoor movie nights and our Cafe is open during events where we serve frappuccino’s, shakes, and a variety of snacks and candy. Haven Place has provided approximately 2,683 community service hours for youth and adults. On various weekends of the month the hall is used for family events and party’s with a suggested donation. Over 608 people have been to haven place through these family events. Haven Place gave away over 196 meals this year. Gave away 40 plastic mats to the homeless. 58 young people came to get free back to school clothing in August. Haven Place has donated to groups such as Hope Not Handcuffs, Bernadette’s Faith in Action, and Samaritas. Tomorrow we will have three groups coming out to rake leaves for the community, provide meals and give a gift to each home. We will be passing out free items at the Tree Lighting Ceremony and Parade. The last week in June we held a Youth Summer Camp, 59 youth stayed with us all week along with 15 camp counselors. The theme for the week was “Live with Purpose” we asked the youth if they have ever felt like they had no purpose in life and 100% of the youth stood to their feet, this impacted us greatly and helped us realize that the mission of Haven Place is needed now more than ever, to reach the hurting and the lost, We spent the week pouring love into their lives, letting them know that God has a special plan for each one of them and they are a precious gift to many and are designed to greatly impact others with their lives. The youth learned leadership skills and were in charge of community service projects. They learned to serve unconditionally by painting the outside of a house, they rebuilt and painted a deck, did landscaping, replaced gutters and cleaned up. Planted flowers and put boulders for the “New Haven Rocks” project at the Haven Place Park located on the corner of Main and Division. for $5 you can take home a boulder, put your family name on it, decorate it and bring it back to the park and put it where you would like it to go. The youth put in 3 barbecuers, built 3 picnic tables with benches and made garden art for the park. They ran a sports camp at the Village of New Haven Community Park, they taught the children how to do cheer, soccer, baseball, basketball and volley ball. Each chid made a shirt with the camps theme this year “Live with Purpose”. We had a guest speaker, live band, fun day at Stoney Creek, did a car wash, ran a huge yard sale, outdoor movie night, bonfires and hang time, the cost for the camp for each youth was only $30 because of the generosity of others such as Individuals, businesses and churches, Trivent Action Teams, Meijer, Hope for the hungry, New Haven Food Pantry, The Michigan Department of Education “Meet up and eat up”. Food provided by a local family, Lighthouse Bible Church, Seventh Day Adventist Church, Kiwanis, Basic Metals, and individuals. It takes over 40 adult volunteers to run this camp, so we would love to have you join us next year for a fantastic week of fun, we promise your life will never be the same. Haven Place has been given the awesome responsibility of taking over the Rose Cellar event for Barb Ramseyer. This year the Haven Place Family Day Event was on August 11th. We had 37 vendors, Live entertainment at the Haven Place park. We released 40 balloons in honor of the 400 young people who lost their lives last year to opioid overdose in Macomb county. We had a “New Haven’s Got Talent” contest where we handed out a $225 in cash prize money. We had a portable Escape Room and two bouncy’s. We had 17 car show participants with trophy’s awarded to the winners. Outdoor yard sale with all proceeds going to Moms in the making. And were honored to have the Annual John L. Mack Cancer walk at the event. We hope you can come out next year to join us for a great day of family fun, entertainment and building community. This year Haven Place helped start a new collaborative called “New Haven Untied” with the goal of uniting leaders from the school district, Village council, local business owners, Board of Education, Fire, Police, Ems, Pastors, and local service groups to meet every other month during the school year for dinner. Our mission is to Promote Unity and Create Opportunities for our community to grow and thrive. We build and strengthen our working relationships, enhance communication, promote and highlight current events in the community and develop unified efforts to strengthen community. We would love for you to join us. Feel free to give us a call for more information.
We are excited to say that we are official New Haven residents as we moved here in September.
